Dougie Sampson, Assistant Coach and Head Mat/Technician Coach at Mt. Hope High School (D1)
Coach Dougie brings a unique blend of 18+ years of wrestling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu experience to our mats. He’s been coaching wrestling at the high school level for two years at his alma mater, but has years of experience since his high school career at Mt Hope, including 4 years on Varsity, for which he was named All Division Academic Scholar Athlete throughout, in addition to MVP and team captain from 2011 – 2012. In 2010, his team earned the Championship at Sectionals and claimed the title for Dual Meet Champions, and in 2012, were the runner ups in the Northeast Dual Championship, bringing the program into D1, where it stands today. He helped coach his team in the 24/25 season to earn multiple titles, including 2 Freshman State Champions, a 2x JV State Champion, 8 State Place Finishers (out of 14), 2 wrestlers earning all American status 2 years in a row, 3rd ranked high school at the Varsity State Tournament, 1st ranked public high school at the Varsity State Tournament, 4 wrestlers breaking the 100-win club, and the Mt Hope team was ranked in the Top 50 teams in all of New England in 24/25.
Coach Dougie is a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, competing and placing in various tournaments across the country, in addition to coaching youth and adults for the last 14+ years at various schools, including Fight Sports Boston. His coaching experience blends wrestling and jiu jitsu into a unique approach that his students thrive in. In the off season, Coach Dougie spends time with his wife and two sons, in addition to various wrestling clubs with his team, getting ready for the next season. We’re so excited to have him back on our mats!
Dex Seibert, Middleborough High School Head Coach (D2)
Coach Dex brings a world of expertise to our mats, heading into his 19th season of coaching high school wrestling, including positions at Bristol Plymouth, Southeastern Voc (2x League Champs), Bridgewater-Raynham (3X League Champs), and really finding his groove at Middleborough for the last 7 seasons, earning the team the title of back to back League Champs in 2023-2024 and 2024-2025, 15th in the All-State Dual Team Rankings, 5th in the D2 Dual Team rankings, and multiple Sectional Champs, State Champs, and New England Qualifiers. In addition, the team earned the D2 Sportsmanship Award for their outstanding sportsmanship and professionalism for the 2024-2025 season, something that Coach Dex has ingrained into the culture of the team since day 1. In the off season, Coach Dex spends much of his time on the mats with his wrestlers, coaching at various wrestling clubs in the area, and we’re THRILLED to welcome him to ours!
